How to Record to an iOS device with MixerFace
Learn how to record to an iOS device with a lightning input; such as many iPhones + iPads.

Ingredients:
- MixerFace (or MicPort Pro)
- iPhone (or iPad)
- MixerFace USB cable
- Apple Lightning to USB 3 Adapter
- Headphones
- Microphone
- Microphone cable

Step 1
Grab your favorite microphone and plug it into an XLR input on the MixerFace.
In this example I am using a dynamic mic, but if you choose to use a condenser mic, go ahead and turn on phantom power via the 48V switch on the front panel.

Step 2
You will want to use a pair of headphones for monitoring your recording signal and level.
In this example, I am using our new Cerene dB headphones — plug them into the headphone jack located on the front panel of the unit.

Step 3
Time to open up the recording app of your choice. In this example I will be using GarageBand (free on all iOS devices).

Step 4
Arm the track for recording/turn monitoring on, as necessary within the app your are using.
The goal here is to make sure we have a healthy input signal going into the recording app at this point.

Step 5
Now that your gain is perfect and your headphone levels are as well (controlled by the monitor knob on the top of the unit)…
Press record in the app and its go time!

Review Recoded Audio
Once you’ve finished recording, you will see the freshly recorded audio file in your app. Congratulations.
At this point the sky is the limit as far as what you do with that audio 🙂
