Back from Asia
I’m back from a trip to Asia.
It’s good to be back. I can return to my product development and blogging duties.
While abroad, I met with some of our suppliers to arrange the remaining parts.
I also attended the Tokyo Headphone Fest, held over the weekend.
It was cold in Tokyo, but very warm in the demo room. I didn’t know we had so many friends in Japan. A lot of people stopped by to say “Hi” and to listen to the HiFi-M8 demo.
Expectations were high, but we consistently got good feedback. Sounds like the analog circuitry is final. Everyone liked the output level (yes, it’s loud). Everyone liked the tone shaping controls. We finally adjusted the high frequency control to be just right. It only elevates the “air” above the music, without touching the main frequencies. This level of boost is very pleasing, as it does not exaggerate anything. I’m proud to say that after months of fine-tuning, the filters are finally there.
The demo was working off a laptop. Computer connectivity works fine now. What’s left to do is fix iPhone connectivity, get a larger battery, test and assemble this thing and prepare for shipping.

Yes, yes, yes…good on ya!
I want this for my iPad3 so badly I can taste it. Will have to throw the Ray Samuels predator in the trash the day Hifi-M8 arrives.
And, thanks for the t-shirt.

It was great to meet you and to have a chance to try out the hifi-m8 in Tokyo.
My impressions are posted on head-fi. Nothing different to what I already briefly said to you.
A nice sounding unit.
